Harbouring a passion for diamonds and a talent for design, Papu Butani came to Hong Kong from Mumbai as a young man in 1969. After overcoming adversity in those early years, he made his mark trading precious gemstones and opened an exclusive atelier in 1977 to produce unique, handcrafted fine jewellery. As private clients delighted in his creations, the brand grew. Under the joint vision and leadership of Papu and his wife Lachmi, Butani Jewellery has gained a global reputation for exceptional expertise and unparalleled elegance.
In 1999, Papu and Lachmi Butani were joined by their twin sons Manoj and Mukesh. Having grown up watching their father’s devotion to design, it was a natural progression that both brothers developed a flair for the luxurious craft, while embodying the core values of integrity and perfection that their father and mother passed down to them. Their presence has given additional depth, imagination and energy to the thriving, ever-growing haute joaillerie brand.
